BIO
TRICKLING FILTER
H2S ODOR CONTROL TECHNOLOGY
The
trickling filter offers economical simple technology for
oxidizing hydrogen sulfide with a select biological
culture. The trickling filter is normally larger than
chemical scrubbers because the process detention time is
significantly longer.
Large
air flows require large units. Polytech Systems, Inc.
(PSI) offers this technology in bolted steel tanks lined
with a 1/8 inch thick plasticized PVC liner. This allows
for the construction of field erected large systems. We
offer this technology in fiberglass factory built systems
up to 12 feet in diameter for smaller air
flows.
The
PSI bio trickling filter odor control system begins with
a bolted steel tank which is then lined with 1/8 inch
thick plasticized PVC that is mechanically attached to
the tank with a system that does not leave any exposed
metal. The tank is coated with thermoset epoxy inside and
out. A glass fused to steel coating is also available as
an option. The water in one of these filters is typically
at a low pH in the range of 2 to 3 with the possibility
of it dropping to 1 at times. The PSI system completely
protects all interior surfaces of the tank from the low
pH water.
The
proven media for this purpose is graded and screened lava
rock which is the standard PSI media. The lava rock is
supported on a fiberglass encapsulated wood beam
structure with fiberglass grating and polypropylene mesh
that retains the media.
